We continue past Alte Oper (Old Opera House) and the financial district with its skyscrapers, including some of the tallest in Europe, the European Central Bank, Hauptwache and the main shopping street Zeil. We will also see the large towers of the former city walls and the museums along the banks of the River Rhine. Afterwards, departure to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. On arrival, the town offers a vision of the Middle Ages frozen in time, with perfectly preserved walls and cobbled streets that transport you to an era of knights and ladies. The market square, with its picturesque Town Hall and half-timbered houses, is the heart of this medieval city. In the afternoon departure to Heidelberg. Accommodation.
Breakfast and visit of Heidelberg, the oldest city in Germany. We begin our tour in the old town, where we find several historic buildings such as the Old Town Hall and Heiliggeistkirche, both from the 15th century. The most striking features are the traditional half-timbered houses. The highlight of the visit is Heidelberg Castle, perched above the city with impressive views over the Neckar Valley. A special experience is the large wine cellar, home to the largest wine barrel in the world. After visiting the castle, we take a walk across the Old Bridge, an 18th-century stone bridge and another landmark of Heidelberg, which brings our visit to an end. Free afternoon and accommodation.
Journey through the charming valleys of the Neckar and Rhine rivers, where vine-covered hills are reflected in the calm waters. As we approach the French border, the landscape gradually changes into gentle hills and dense forests. Soon we cross the Rhine into the magical city of Strasbourg, with its iconic Gothic cathedral and charming cobbled streets. Strasbourg, with its rich history and vibrant culture, welcomes us with open arms. From the picturesque La Petite France district to the bustling Christmas market in Cathedral Square, every corner of the city is full of charm and character. Short panoramic visit and continuation of the trip to Freiburg.
The trip from Freiburg to Lindau is an adventure that takes us from the gentle hills of the Black Forest to the shores of majestic Lake Constance, passing through picturesque villages and stunning landscapes. The world’s first and largest cuckoo clock is located in Schonach Untertal and was built by clockmaker Josef Dold and his family over two years. Its mechanism measures 3.60 meters long, 3.10 meters high and 1 meter deep. Made entirely of wood, it is a testament to the craftsmanship and precision involved in its construction. Fifty times larger than a normal cuckoo clock, it invites visitors to take a look inside. We continue to Lindau, a charming island town on the southern shore of Lake Constance, with its picturesque harbor, cobbled streets and impressive historic architecture. Short stop and departure through the lush Allgäu region, known for its green meadows, dense forests and traditional farmhouses decorated with flowers, towards Munich. Arrival and accommodation.
Breakfast and panoramic tour of Munich, capital of Bavaria, on the banks of the River Isar at the northern foothills of the Alps. We begin at the medieval city gate Karlstor, then continue to St. Michael’s Church, where the remains of the “Mad King” Ludwig II are found. Crossing Marienplatz to see the Town Hall with its famous Glockenspiel, we then visit Frauenkirche, which according to legend preserves the Devil’s footprint at its entrance.
